Tuesday, Between Lectures, in a Cafe With a Wobbly Table

Dear diary, I have found the cheat code. The Winter Wonderland ticket guide says that off-peak time slots, the green ones, mainly Monday to Thursday in November, are free to enter, although a booking is still needed. The season runs from Thursday 19 November 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027, and the park is open every day except Christmas Day.

I am a person who has never found a cheat code. I read the page three times to make sure.

How It Works

A ticket is required for everyone, regardless of age, and tickets are for a specific date and a one-hour entry slot between 10am and 8pm. Once you are in you can stay as long as you like. Popular slots can sell out, so pre-booking is recommended.

The slots are colour-coded: green for off-peak, gold for standard and orange for peak, which is mostly later in the day and at weekends. I will be a green girl.

The Other Way In

The guide also says that spending over 25 pounds in a single online transaction on rides, attractions, packages, passes or food and drink meal deals unlocks free entry. I do not know whether I will spend 25 pounds, but I know I will want to, because I have seen the word doughnut on the page.

It adds that booking online in advance can save up to 25 percent. I have promised myself that I will not blow the savings on a second doughnut. I have lied before.

Opening Times

The standard hours are 10am to 10pm, with last entry at 9.30pm. Some mornings open later: 12pm on 19 and 20 November and on several dates around then, 11am on others, and 2pm on 1 December. Rides may close their queues early.

I have copied the dates onto the back of my hand, which is the only filing system I trust.

The Group Chat Again

Priya is in. Tilly has asked if there is a toilet and I have said yes, because I am sure there is. Ollie has sent a thumbs-up, which could mean anything.

I have not told them that the plan involves a Tuesday afternoon, a free slot and a lecture I am skipping. What they do not know cannot hurt my attendance record.

What I Will Do There

I will walk around the market, I will smell things, and I will go on exactly one ride, chosen by whoever screams least on the way in. I do not have information on the ride prices because the page I read lists several prices without clear labels, so I will not guess.

I will take a photograph of my mittens against a light. That is the whole content strategy.

A Warning

The guide notes that tickets can be bought on arrival, but popular slots can sell out. I interpret this as a warning to book. I have a lifetime of not booking behind me, and this is the first time I have heeded it.

Check the official page before you go. Dates and prices can change, and I am a nineteen-year-old with a glitter pen, not a ticket office.

Lights Out

I am going to sleep with a screenshot of my booking on my phone. If it is not there in the morning, I will assume the phone ate it.

Goodnight, diary. Green for go.

Questions From the Group Chat

Priya: is it really free? The guide says off-peak slots are free to enter with a booking, and that you can also unlock free entry by spending over 25 pounds online. Tilly: do children need a ticket? The guide says a ticket is required for everyone regardless of age. Ollie: thumbs-up.

I have decided that the free slot is the best bargain in London, provided you can get to Hyde Park on a Tuesday.

Rescheduling

The guide says existing bookings can be rescheduled within the 2026 to 2027 season and extra rides can be added through the booking page. This means that if I book the green slot and then fall ill, I can move it. I plan to do both.

I also plan to look at the page on the day, in case something has changed.

Homework

Homework, darlings: compare the three comic takes on the same overseas property story. Manila News, the London Prat (see https://prat.uk/cebu-estate-agents-demand-character-references/) and Bohiney each start from a recognisable market fact and wink at you through the exaggeration. Then find more at prat.uk and bohiney.com.

Note: Philippine authorities are examining unproven allegations about Thomas Markle Sr., who lived in Cebu until earlier this year, as GMA News and the Guardian have reported. No charges have been filed. Child protection is a serious matter; the jokes here are about a property market and the paperwork.
