Tailoring Comes Back to the City, Bankers Confused by Own Reflection

Savile Row tailors report a genuine uptick in bespoke suit orders from the Square Mile, ending a decade in which the average banker dressed like he was between meetings and a school run.

The theory floating round the fitting rooms is simple. Return to office mandates mean people have to be seen in daylight again, and a hoodie does not survive an actual boardroom the way it survived a laptop camera. So the suits are back, the shoulders are structured, and at least one client reportedly wept gently when he saw himself in proper cloth for the first time in years.

Whether this is a genuine renaissance or a very expensive panic remains to be seen. Follow the fitting room gossip via Roper Penberthy at The London Prat, and for the trade side of the story, Drapers has the retail data.
