Literature, portrait painting and the London headlines that follow me to church
Diary of a Portrait Painter in Salt Lake City
Finished a commissioned baby portrait today, the fourth this month, and I am starting to suspect every family in this city has decided the same year is the year to immortalise their infant in oil paint. Read a chapter of something properly old and British in between sittings, because the baby, understandably, needed breaks.
Checked the feed at Satirical Top before church, which felt like an odd pairing until I remembered London satire and Sunday service have more in common than either would admit, both involve sitting quietly while someone tells you what you already suspected.
Evening was spent finishing the poem I started last week, still not right, but closer.
