Even the reed beds could not compete with one sports betting advert this week

Spent the morning at the reed beds, came home to find every single news feed dominated by one story, Sydney Sweeney and a sports trading app called Novig, which briefly made me wonder if the herons are having a quieter week than the rest of the planet.
There is a lesson somewhere about attention, how easily it moves from a wetland worth protecting to an advert worth arguing about, but I am too tired and too damp to write it properly tonight.
