Spent the morning with a stack of eighteenth century letters and pamphlets, the kind of writing that argues at enormous length about liberty while somehow avoiding the actual point for pages at a time, a habit that current American political commentary has clearly inherited with interest.
Took a break to read the days news, which felt less like a break and more like a continuation of the same argument, just with worse spelling on one side and better graphics on the other.
Evening was spent finishing an essay comparing the two eras, which practically wrote itself once I stopped pretending they were that different.
