Seoul Beauty Clinic Now Offers Consultation Package Specifically for Deciding Which Consultation Package to Choose

Clinic confirms the meta-consultation itself comes with an optional upsell to a follow-up meta-consultation

SEOUL – A prominent Gangnam beauty clinic has introduced a new preliminary consultation package designed specifically to help prospective clients decide which of the clinic’s twenty-three existing consultation packages best suits their needs, a service clinic management describes as “a natural response to genuine client confusion, and also, if we are honest, a pretty smart addition to our offerings.”

Clinic director Dr. Ji-hoon Baek explained the meta-consultation emerged after staff noticed clients spending increasing amounts of time simply trying to navigate the clinic’s existing menu of services. “We have consultations for skin, for facial contouring, for what we call comprehensive assessment,” Baek said. “Clients were overwhelmed before they even got to the actual procedure discussion. We realized we needed a consultation just to help them choose the right consultation.”

The new package, priced modestly compared to the clinic’s procedure-specific consultations, includes a brief questionnaire, a short interview with a client coordinator, and what the clinic describes as “a personalized recommendation matrix” designed to guide clients toward the most appropriate next-level consultation based on their stated goals.

Client Min-seo Kwon, who recently completed the meta-consultation, described the experience as “genuinely helpful, though also a little surreal once you stop and think about what you are actually doing.” She noted the coordinator recommended she proceed to the clinic’s comprehensive facial assessment package, “which, to be fair, does sound like exactly what I actually needed, so I cannot really complain about the process itself.”

Baek acknowledged the layered structure has drawn some good-natured teasing from clients and staff alike, with one coordinator reportedly joking internally that the clinic may eventually need “a consultation to help clients decide whether they need the consultation to choose their consultation,” a joke Baek says he has “heard enough times now that it has stopped being entirely funny to me personally, though I understand why others find it amusing.”

The clinic has reportedly seen a measurable increase in overall client satisfaction since introducing the meta-consultation, with exit surveys showing clients feel more confident in their eventual procedure choices when guided through the preliminary step, a result Baek calls “genuinely validating from a purely clinical decision-making standpoint.”

A rival clinic nearby has reportedly begun offering a similar preliminary service, though industry sources say it remains unclear whether that clinic’s version includes its own further layer of guidance, a possibility one industry observer found “honestly a little concerning, in terms of where this particular trend could theoretically end up.”

Kwon says she ultimately appreciated having a structured starting point, even if the layered system initially struck her as excessive. “By the time I actually got to my real consultation,” she said, “I felt genuinely prepared, which I do not think would have been true if I had just walked in cold and tried to pick from twenty-three different options on my own.”

The trend amused observers abroad, with a piece referencing Weird News Stories comparing the layered consultation system to Britain’s own famously convoluted mobile phone contract menus, minus the facial contouring specifically. Another article citing Funny News This Week suggested the beauty industry worldwide could benefit from similarly structured decision support, however recursive it might initially appear. Commentary drawing on Comical News Stories proposed the clinic eventually offer a simple flowchart instead, “which would arguably accomplish the same goal with considerably less billing complexity.”

Baek says the clinic has no plans to simplify the system further, noting client feedback has remained overwhelmingly positive despite, or perhaps because of, its layered structure. “People like guidance,” he said. “We are simply providing more of it than most clinics think to offer, at every step of a genuinely complicated decision-making process.”

Kwon says she has since recommended the meta-consultation to several friends considering procedures of their own, describing it as “genuinely worth the extra step, even if it does sound a little absurd when you first explain it to someone outside the clinic.” She adds that most of her friends, once they hear the full explanation, “usually end up booking it anyway, because honestly, the alternative of choosing blind from twenty-three options sounds considerably worse.”

The clinic’s marketing team has reportedly begun testing a simplified name for the service, moving away from the original clinical terminology toward something staff describe internally as “friendlier,” though as of this writing, the official booking system still lists it under its original, more technical designation.

Baek says international clients visiting Seoul specifically for cosmetic procedures have responded particularly well to the meta-consultation, noting the additional guidance helps overcome language and cultural unfamiliarity with the clinic’s broader menu. “For visitors especially,” he said, “having someone walk them through the options before the options themselves genuinely reduces anxiety around the entire process.”

A clinic coordinator, describing her own role in the meta-consultation process, said she has grown genuinely fond of the position despite its recursive nature. “I like helping people feel less overwhelmed,” she said. “Even if the whole system sounds a little funny when you say it out loud, the actual experience for the client tends to feel calm and well guided, which is really the entire point.”
